S1, E12 : Michael Mwenso (Vocals)

MICHAEL MWENSO for Capsulocity.com : 

Vocalist Michael Mwenso hails from Sierra Leone, West Africa and is relatively new to New York City. He is a curator at Jazz at Lincoln Center and also appears on its radio station as a host. Mwenso is most known for his role in starting the successful jam session at the legendary Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London. As a kid, he performed onstage with James Brown and grew up hanging at the club with jazz legends like Betty Carter. He began a similar late-night jam series at Dizzy's Coca-Cola Club every Thursday night at JALC in mid-2012 and will expand it two a second night in September.

S1, E11 : Matthias Loescher (Guitar)

MATTHIAS LOESCHER for Capsulocity.com:

Matthias Loescher, a Fulbright Scholar living in Vienna took New York City by storm in the two-years he studied here. Loescher studied at SUNY Purchase College in Upstate, NY and delved into the vibrant NYC music scene, which was a stark contrast to his native Austria. He currently lives in Vienna, where he plays with his band the Ruff Pack, which merges jazz and Hip-Hop. Loescher also plays duos with the singer Lylit and in other non-jazz bands. He plans to return to the Big Apple someday.

GABRIELLE STRAVELLI for Capsulocity.com :

A dynamo in the jazz community, Gabrielle Stravelli can be seen every Sunday at her brunch gig at french bistro Le Pescadeux. Last Spring she released her first album of live recordings titled "Waiting in Vain" in which she combined pop tunes and jazz standards for a truly stunning performance. Stravelli initially pursued musical theater, but in the last 4 years discovered her passion for jazz and classic tunes from the Great American Songbook.

S1, E9 : Josh Holcomb (Trombone)

JOSH HOLCOMB for Capsulocity.com:
Trombonist and bandleader Josh Holcomb is currently a student at the Manhattan School Of Music. He's played with such jazz greats as Wynton Marsalis, Arturo O'Farrill and Wycliffe Gordon. He is currently a student of Gordon's. Holcomb grew up singing in the church choir and is heavily influenced by Gospel hymns. The Queens-native took a liking to 20s jazz and has been a part of the growing movement of young musicians that have resuscitated the scene in NYC. He also plays with the Hot Sardines and his own band, the Lucky Chops Brass Band.

S1, E8 : Jean Caze (Trumpet)

JEAN CAZE for Capsulocity.com : 
Haitian-born, New York-bred trumpeter and flugelhornist, Jean Caze is emerging as a solid and exciting voice in music. Caze won the National Trumpet Jazz Competition (2004); International Trumpet Guild Jazz Competition (2006) and placed 2nd in the prestigious Thelonious Monk Competition (2007). Since then he has completed the "Crazy Love Tour" with crooner Michael Buble and also performed with Chicago as part of VH1's "Save The Music" program. He received a degree from the Manhattan School of Music and his Masters degree from Florida State University. Caze is currently working on his second album, where he will pay tribute to his Haitian heritage and also sing a few tunes.
