S1, E7 : Brianna Thomas (Vocals)

A rising star in the jazz realm, Brianna Thomas is quickly becoming one of the must-hear voices. She's performed at many of the jazz clubs in New York City as a featured vocalist including with Wynton Marsalis. Thomas was awarded "High School Jazz Vocalist of the Year" by Down Beat magazine. Thomas is also the youngest person ever to be inducted into Peoria Illinois' African-American Hall of Fame (1996). In 2009, she won New York's Jazzmobile Vocal Competition. Find out why Will Friedwald of the Wall Street Journal said "she may well be the best young straight-ahead jazz singer of her generation."
