JONATHAN BATISTE for Capsulocity.com : In our Season Finale Interview, Louisiana-born artist Jonathan Batiste performs a stirring rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner". Batiste, a pianist, vocalist, bandleader and actor was recently named co-director and curator at The National Jazz Museum in Harlem. Batiste has performed in more than 30 countries and has also appeared on the HBO hit-series "Treme." He currently leads the Stay Human Band and appeared in Spike Lee's "RedHook Summer".

LAWRENCE LEATHERS for Capsulocity.com:

Lawrence Leathers is one bad cat on the drums. From Lansing Michigan, he's done quite a bit of traveling tearin' it up, scene-by-scene. Leathers, who has his sights set on giving back to the jazz scene through education, regularly plays around NYC hosting After-Hours jam sessions at Smalls Jazz Club and Dizzy's Coca-Cola Club. He would like to start a studio to help young jazz musicians. Leathers, who grew up playing Gospel in his hometown also regularly plays with his trio, which includes bassist Paul Sikivie and pianist Aaron Diehl. He has performed with many top jazz artists on the scene today, including Mulgrew Miller, Wynton Marsalis, Wycliffe Gordon, Cyrus Chestnut and Rodney Whitaker, In this episode, he touches on his style and his views on the NYC jazz scene.

CHARENEE WADE for Capsulocity.com:

Charenee Wade is already a young veteran on the jazz scene. Well respected by her peers and elders as a fine vocalist and educator, Wade was the first-runner up in the 2010 Thelonious Monk International Vocal Competition and Jazzmobile Vocal Competition. She studied at the Manhattan School of Music and was a part of the Better Carter Jazz Ahead Program. The Brooklyn-born songbird also teaches at Aaron Copeland School of Music at City College and released her debut CD "Love Walked In" in 2010.
